Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Ahhh I see @Shaz51 . Not good. Need to severely restrict intake of potassium and phosphates in your diet. Poorly functioning kidneys fail to eliminate these from our body, so they build up. 👎😔

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Shaz51  Same as @Former-Member  I was confused by your previous post. Thanks for the clarification.

So limiting potassium rich bananas, tomatoes, potatoes, avocados, etc. 😐😯 Then you have high protein foods (meats, fish, dairy, nuts, seeds, chocolates, wholegrain products) which are high in phosphates as well as potassium.  Urgh .. whats left?

When hubby first lost his kidney and found out the remaining one was not functioning well, I cut all that stuff out of our diet. But gradually brought some back in. Its all healthy stuff, and we need protein. Its a matter of sensible restraint I believe. But there can be a buildup of toxins which the kidney is not eliminating as it should. This is a problem. I hope your kidney specialist can provide further advice on what needs to be done to help preserve your kidney and keep you feeling well for longer. Dialysis delayed for as long as possible, is preferred.

Yes @Former-Member I too have been wondering how your furbaby is today, whether you needed a trip to the vet?

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Eating healthy and needing to make changes away from fare we have brought up on,  particularly whilst trying to keep the food bill in check is a challenge @Shaz51 .

Thankfully no vet trip required, the madam hound seems to have recovered and back to normal.
