Income Protection Insurance?
Hi all,
I'm new to the forums. I actually registered a while back as I have a sister with Bipolar who was quite unwell, however more recently my husband has been struggling with mental illness and I now find myself worrying about how we are going to make ends meet.
We have 2 young daughters, a mortgage and the rest. We have just discovered that my husband's super doesn't have income protection insurance, and I'm now trying to find a provider that will cover mental illness. I have already come across a couple that flat out say they don't cover pre-existing conditions or mental illness and my husband has both of these.
I wonder if anyone has experience with needing income protection insurance for mental illness and knows of any insurance companies that will cover it and also cover pre-existing conditions?
Thanks in advance
Cynthia

Re: Income Protection Insurance?
Hello @Cynthia, welcome to the Forums. I'm sorry to hear that you husband has become unwell. I hope he's receiving good treatment and support. It's clearly a very worrying time and knowing that the bills will be covered will make a big difference.
Unfortunately members won't be able to make specific recommendations as posts that can serve commercial interests aren't allowed. Hopefully members will be able to give you some broader advice though about managing financially in this situation and whether they have been able to get income protection insurance.
Have Centrelink been any assistance? I often hesitate to ask this as people have such terrible experiences with them at times.
