Antipsychotics for schizoaffective disorder

I'm diagnosed and have recieved the injection [edited by moderator] for 4-5 years. I've tried a few times to cease it but i struggle with sleep, bit of hyperchondria thinking i'm gping to die if i don't sleep and my last scenario was 15ish hours of sleep in a week and a half ish so i went back up. But if i just stay calm and get reassurance i will sleep when my body needs it and my anatomy will force me to sleep if i 'need' it and i'm looking for reassurance that i won't die from a lack of sleep?

Hi there @Notevensad ,

Welcome to the forums.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

I wanted to let you know that we've had to edit your post to remove the name of the medication and the dosage so that it aligns with our community guidelines. You can read about these guidelines here: https://saneforums.org/t5/help/faqpage/title/community-guidelines

With your experiences, is this something you can speak to your treating team about?

I can see how 15 hrs of sleep per week is not really sustainable.

Hi @Notevensad

It sounds like a really intense experience to go through for you when you feel unable to sleep and really anxious.

As @tyme mentioned, it might be worth talking with your medical team regarding how you can manage the sleep issue if you ever want to try again. I wonder whether there is a plan you could all work out beforehand, regarding the lack of sleep? ie maybe doing the medication drop safely in hospital? Or having regular check-ins with the GP/community nurse?

How are you going today @Notevensad ?

Re: Antipsychotics for schizoaffective disorder

i havent slept since august 2018 and i am still alive

if you are still functioning during the days then

the best advice i can give you is to not overly preoccupy yourself with your inability to sleep

accept it, and get on with your life as best you can
